Video: Crash testing Lego Technic cars is satisfying chaos

Normally our favourite Lego content is the therapeutic timelapse or in-detail build videos of the giant and impossibly want-ey Technic cars. Sometimes, though, you have to switch things up and introduce a bit of chaos, and wanton destruction into the mix. That’s what we have in today’s Lego video, as fully-built Lego Technic cars get crash tested.

Indeed, it satisifies that perverse part of our brains that wants to lob our mobile phones off a cliff edge, or fall of the edge of a pier into the sea. The possibility of carnage, of chaos, absolutely courted, of course in the name of science.

For this is a rigorous process, looking at the deformation of these vehicles as they impact at various speeds. The test begins at 5km/h, rising through 15km/h, 40km/h, 80kmh and 100km/h. Yes, we do eventually see a Lego Technic Defender crash into a Lego Technic Charger at 62mph, with a replay in glorious slow motion to boot.
