Video: This McKee-Chevrolet is the weirdest sportscar ever
Goodwood is as much about the weird as it is the wonderful. So, to that end, we bring you this rather strange-looking contraption. Meet the McKee-Chevrolet Mahyra. It’s a pre Can-Am open-air sports prototype from the 1960s that is entirely unique. Unique in this context being another word for… somewhat useless.
Owner Greg Thornton bought it with assurance from the seller that the car was a winner, with photos of silverware in front of the car as proof. Unfortunately, that silverware wasn’t for performance. It was for ‘best custom car’. Oh dear? Not really. The car is such a fun thing to have, adding variety to the grid. Prior to SpeedWeek presented by Mastercard it hadn’t been driven in anger since 1965. Given this, its period performance and agricultural design, it’s a nice surprise then that it turned a strong hand to the Whitsun Trophy. Is this the weirdest car you’ve ever seen?
